Iraq War Memorial
Mt. Pleasanton, Michigan, United States.
Date of incident: 07/23/2007

A memorial was erected in 2005 after the death of LCPL Justin Ellsworth, and is “in honor of all the men and women who have served and are serving in Iraq”. Located in Island Park in Mt. Pleasanton, Michigan, the memorial was designed by Gregg Garvey, and was built with donations from the community. On July 23, 2007, as an anti-war statement, the 20 foot flagpole was bent, the flag from the flagpole was draped over the monument and burned, a bronze eagle was stolen, and flowers and surrounding plants were torn up.
