This statue of John Ballance, Premier of New Zealand from 1891 to 1893, stands in Moutoa Gardens, in the city of Wanganui, New Zealand. In February 1995, protestors occupied the park for 79 days in protest over a Treaty of Waitangi claim. During the protest, the statue of John Ballance was beheaded.
