Dates of incidents: 2002, 2004, 06/02/2006

This Italian marble statue was erected in 1979 in Boston’s Christopher Columbus Waterfront Park. On June 2, 2006, the monument was beheaded for the second time. The first beheading occurred in 2002. The statue was also vandalized with paint at least five times in recent years, most notably in 2004 when the word “murderer” was painted across the pedestal and a gallon of red paint was dumped over its head.
